In 2002, I built my own rehearsal studio. Literally, wall by wall! I named it “World Sound Records.” Two years later, I founded Conguitos as singer and rhythm guitarist, along with other talented musicians I met at the studio. We played songs originally reggae and ska, but also created reggae and ska versions of songs from other genres.
This marked the start of my passion for being a frontman, leading the crowd and feeling free on stage, a big shift from my previous role as a drummer. What an amazing experience!
The band played many shows because our style was very different from what was common in Portugal. With 99% of cover bands playing pop-rock, bars and venues invited us regularly.
The musicians who played with me in Conguitos eventually became my live band for Sir Giant.
